Applying patch to drupal module manually

In order to get the additional feature of drupal there was a patch released by mattman (http://drupal.org/files/issues/hide_submenu_01.patch) which to my dismay did not apply the patch to the module. So had to do it manually and since the patch was not that big I could easily carry out the task. There were helpful links in drupal on how to get the thing done.

Hierarchical representation of Taxonomy and pathauto

First of all with just the inclusion of taxonomy I wasn't able to get the desired URL, let alone the hierarchical representation. For that include the pathauto module and include the pattern as blog/[termpath-raw]/[dd]/[mm]/[yyyy]/[title-raw] in the pattern for all blog entry paths of the node path settings in automatted alias settin.

To delete all the url aliases generated automatically as well as user created go to

site building -> URL alias -> delete alias

fancy domain names - third level domain names

http://www.kloth.net/services/whois.php

Query this WHOIS service to look up internet domain name information. This online web tool works for generic top level (gTLD) domains .COM/.NET/.ORG/.BIZ/.INFO and many (most) other national ccTLD (country code TLDs) domain names by sending a realtime query to specific domain registry whois servers.

Just enter SLD.TLD (top level and second level domains), no "WWW" or other sub-domain data (example: enter example.com, not www.example.com).

What's important in the arena of FLOSS

It's very important to realise the truth that no one to everyone is not soo familiar with everything under the FLOSS. Always work your own way out and don't think that you will get an instant answer to any query that you post.

Ever wondered how to check the installation date of linux

just recently I wanted to know when I installed linux on my x86 and to my disappointment I couldn't find the exact answer but got an answer that could satisfy my curiosity.

My initial stint with linux was with Redhat 9 in those days they haven't ventured into Enterprise edition.

One answer is rpm -qi basesystem. kairo.wordpress.com

but I was sure that I installed linux much before the date specified by rpm -qi

another option is

dumpe2fs on the root fs partition.

eg:- dumpe2fs -h /dev/sda1

Wonder why the the new headphones have longer right side wire than the left

The right earplug should go around your neck. HehEhehE. This won't obstruct if your working with your laptop/notebook/netbook with your earplug on. This is a new protocol deviced by the headphone regulation authority :>)

Thanx to closed source movement -> appreciate the open source culture

As far as I know the programmes of yesteryear(beginnig stage of comp) were written keeping in mind that the person using it should know what is written but only at the latter stage when the money making became the main proposition - the man took over the freedom to view the source code until then "the man" did not realise the value of the freedom that they were having but only when clamp down on source code occured it came to realise about it.

With google at your disposal Who need(s) mentor

For me almost all of the nooks and corners of life is always touched by google everyday. It is also very important to mention the contribution by the million and trillion of others that helped make google possible. I will rather skip asking my human mentor counterpart than the Google.
